Morino Institute ASVP participated in a social venture study by the Morino Institute to explore the social venture fund landscape around the country and how VC practices can be applied to organizations and activities that achieve social change. In addition ,the Institute also reviewed the changing landscape of non-profit capital markets, and new developments in innovative and strategic philanthropy. As part of the study, they conducted extensive interviews with prospective investors, members of the philanthropic community, and potential recipients. It drew on the experience of Jim Kimsey, co-founder of AOL, Bill Drayton of the Ashoka Foundation, and Lisbeth Shorr, director of Harvard's Center on Effective Interventions. Of particular note, the study selected the Social Venture Partner model as "most likely to succeed" of all the various venture philanthropy models.
